Week 12

If I look tired this week in the photo, it's because I am. My mom and grandma have been here all week and we have seen it all and done it all. NYC, Washington, DC, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg and even a day in Richmond. I have burned more calories in a week then I ever have, but unfortunately, I also have had the worst week for my diet yet! There are very few healthy options when you are sightseeing and I had to make do.

My weight increased, but my fat percent decreased. I'll take what I can get for this week that threw me a curve ball! Jay has broken through his plateau (of the weight number). He will soon be under 300!

Week 11

Didn't think we were going to post, huh? We're not giving up and we're not giving in! It's late but we got it done. We weighed in this morning seperately (Jay had to go to work at 6:30 am!) and then did pictures later this evening. I've been getting ready for my mom and grandma to come this week so I didn't get a chance to post until now.

Here it is!

Week 10

This week we had many challenges: graduation lunch, my birthday (cake!), and eating with friends a lot! We both lost a pound dispite these challenges. We hope to do better next week with eating heathier and cutting down on the fatty foods that we have found just don't fill us up.

Week 9

Well...it seems that no matter what you do right, sometimes things don't go the way you've planned. Jay did excellent this week with a 4 pound loss, but I didn't change weight according to the scale. This is when we are happy we are taking pictures. Our bodies sometimes are just strange and hard to understand. I did everything I was supposed to and then some this week, but who knows?? We will just keep plugging along and hope for a better week next time!

Workout Routine

We were asked by Jessica this week if we have a workout routine. We do! We have a regular routine we do almost every week. Here it is:

Monday - Arms weight lifting (all the arm machines) and 30-40 minutes of cardio
Tuesday - Legs weight lifting (all the leg machines) and 30-40 minutes of cardio
Wednesday - 1 hour cardio
Thursday - Repeat Monday workout
Friday - Repeat Tuesday workout
Saturday - 1 hour cardio
Sunday - day of rest

Cardio is usually always the elliptical machine unless it's our cardio only day and that is when we add in walking on the treadmill. Sometimes running if we have the energy.

Any extra activity we count as just that - extra activity that will get us to our goals sooner. We don't "exchange" our workout time or do something else and justify not going to the gym. We always get it in. After about 2 weeks it seems perfectly normal and we started to look forward to it instead of dreading going.

Confessions of a Chocoholic

I love chocolate and there is no way I will ever cut it out of my life completely. So here's how I don't have to: this week I probably had around 4-5 chocolate covered almonds, 3 mini Milky Ways and a weight watchers pecan bar. And I still lost 2 pounds.

If I cut out chocolate completely or sweets, this would feel more like a diet to me than a lifestyle change. The trick is learning to eat in a way that you still get to eat what you want, but in better combinations and portions.

When I want salty instead of sweet, I have 1 oz. of Light Lays Potato Chips (that's a lot - almost 20 chips). Or try this - one mini candy bar with the chips for a 150 calorie snack.

mmmm....yummy!

Week 8

Milestones this week:

  1. We've hit the 2 month mark.
  2. I can fit in some old jeans. (yay!)
  3. Jay has to wear a belt with the jean shorts he's been wearing for the last 3 years. (double yay!)

Make sure to notice how much muscle we are gaining each week and how much fat we are losing, not just the new weight!

Drumroll, please.....
