Our Weight History in Pictures

Just for kicks, I started pulling our photos up to see the difference in our weights with actual clothes on! ;) I was amazed at the changes, both bad and good.

Jay gained his weight soon after we were married, so he looks the same for the most part after our wedding photo. I have varied by a little until last year, when you'll notice in the last picture I was my biggest ever.

On a side note, how come in almost every picture I'm on Jay's left side? hmmm......

Click on each photo to see it larger.

I can't believe the difference working out while losing weight makes! I am the same weight as I was a year ago but I look about 10 pounds lighter than I did then. Our faces are really showing the change, huh? How hot is Jay?!

For anyone who didn't get a good look at this picture posted with the others above, here it is by itself. Can you believe that's us 6 years ago??

This is our goal weight:

Workout Routine

We were asked by Jessica this week if we have a workout routine. We do! We have a regular routine we do almost every week. Here it is:

Monday - Arms weight lifting (all the arm machines) and 30-40 minutes of cardio
Tuesday - Legs weight lifting (all the leg machines) and 30-40 minutes of cardio
Wednesday - 1 hour cardio
Thursday - Repeat Monday workout
Friday - Repeat Tuesday workout
Saturday - 1 hour cardio
Sunday - day of rest

Cardio is usually always the elliptical machine unless it's our cardio only day and that is when we add in walking on the treadmill. Sometimes running if we have the energy.

Any extra activity we count as just that - extra activity that will get us to our goals sooner. We don't "exchange" our workout time or do something else and justify not going to the gym. We always get it in. After about 2 weeks it seems perfectly normal and we started to look forward to it instead of dreading going.

Confessions of a Chocoholic

I love chocolate and there is no way I will ever cut it out of my life completely. So here's how I don't have to: this week I probably had around 4-5 chocolate covered almonds, 3 mini Milky Ways and a weight watchers pecan bar. And I still lost 2 pounds.

If I cut out chocolate completely or sweets, this would feel more like a diet to me than a lifestyle change. The trick is learning to eat in a way that you still get to eat what you want, but in better combinations and portions.

When I want salty instead of sweet, I have 1 oz. of Light Lays Potato Chips (that's a lot - almost 20 chips). Or try this - one mini candy bar with the chips for a 150 calorie snack.

mmmm....yummy!

Kristi's Thoughts

On Monday, Jay and I were very sluggish and slow to get to the gym. Sunday is our day off working out so we always have a hard time on Monday. Well, we finally got there. On our way home we were remarking on how much better we felt. Our blood was pumping and getting all the stagnant, pooling blood moving so there are less chances for us developing serious diseases.

I read a study that said women who work out vigourously for 2 hours a day are 32% less likely to develop breast cancer. Just think of all the health problems that can go away with regular exercise and a healthy diet. In most cases, diabetes type 2 can be entirely cured with exercise.

When we are young, we think we'll live forever. Unfortunately, this can lead to bad habits forming including unhealthy eating and laziness. It's up to us to take full advantage of life and be healthy human beings.

Listen to me be all preachy! Well, honestly, it's more self directed than anything. :) TTFN

Kristi's Thoughts

Yesterday I was thinking while we were at the gym, thank goodness Jay and I work out together. I am an impatient person at the gym. I would like results quickly, but it doesn't work that way. When I work out by myself I want to leave after 20 mintues doing only one mile and justifying to myself that its' one more mile than I would have gone today.

But when I go with Jay, he is very diligent in his work out and takes his time but puts as much into that time as possible. I am trying to up my game and push myself. I have a little coach in my head that says, "You can do it. Just 30 more seconds..." or whatever small goal I've set at the time.  It's so easy to give up early but I'm learning that's almost as bad as giving up all together.

I have to keep pushing myself to my max or I won't see the results I want to. Anyway, that's just my thoughts for today. More later...
